Chapter 1: Protection

amu began to walk home, ran,miki and su were all with kiseki and the others, having a 'chara meeting' (which was what yaya called it.) 

she sighed and continued walking, then an X egg appeared in front of her. amu gasped, 'oh no! ran! miki! su! i need you!!!' she yelled in her head. and then the xegg shot this purple dark kind of attack at her, she pulled her hands in front of her face. then from the wind caused from the Xegg, she fell backwards. Before she hit the ground something caught her. She looked up just enough to see kukkai (and daichi hovering above him and smiling). His hands were on both her elbows and his chest and stomach was against her back. he was looking at the Xegg,then he looked at amu and smiled. "hey" he said while he smiled one of his regular smiles. then with his grip on amus elbows he lifted her up and she was standing. then he looked at the Xegg and character transformed.

amu frowned "where is ran miki and su when i need them. Kukkai cant do this alone!" she thought to herself

"Amu!" kukkai yelled after he hit a few attacks at the Xegg and was no longer standing next to her. "sit tight i got this!"  

 then amu was lost in thought...about almost everything 

then she heard kukkai yell "Hinamori, look out!" 

then she looked up and saw an Xchara holding its hands up about to make amu retrieve an attack. her eyes widened, then kukkai swooped her up in his arms on to his sky jack skateboard thing and rode a fair distance away from the Xchara as it formed purple wind.

he sighed "phew" and then looked down at amu and smiled, amu blushed. "be more careful." he said.

"kukkai? could you- put me down?" amu turned red.

kukkai blushed "ah ye-" and before he could finish his sentence the Xchara attacked again and kukkai dodged it. he looked at the Xchara. Before it was about to attack again he said, "sorry Hinamori, guess i cant." then the Xchara attacked and kukkai turned his back to it on the skate board just in time before the attack and gripped on to hinamori harder and came closer to her to protect her. she closed her eyes.

"hey, you okay?" he said. amu opened her eyes to see his face above hers a few centermetres away, looking worried.

amu blushed again. "y-yeah" she gave a small smile.

"good" he smiled back then turned and looked at the Xchara and with one hand used a sky jack  attack, then rode around on the skateboard with amu still in his arms. he gave one more attack and then reached for something in his shoulder bag. it was a small container. then shot the skateboard up with him on it and amu with him and caught the Xchara in the

container. he laughed, "got ya!" he said as the skateboard came down and they followed. he rode in half a circle on it then put a foot on the ground, then un-character transformed with daichi.

he looked at amu again "that was exciting" he said as he let her down.

amu gave a shy look "thanks kukkai"

he smiled then put his arm around her and said, "anytime! so where ya headed! ill walk you there so your safe." he said as he looked at her, 

with his cheerful smile.

"home... and thanks, kukkai" Amu said. Kukkai put his arm off amus shoulder and began to walk with her. after some talking while walking she looked at diachi. "diachi, why come your not at that chara thing, where keseki blabs on about world domination?" she asked daichi. Daichi put his hands behind his head. "yeah, thats all it is so i dont really need to go never the less want too" daichi said. Kukkai copyed him and put his hands behind his head as he walked. "plus, i saved him from the lectures. we've got sport and other stuff to do, i mean i can do it on my own but training with daichi is more exciting."

"oh" amu said as she looked ahead of her and before they knew it they were at amu's house.

"cya hinamori!" kukkai said smiling and kind of waving. 

"well, you could come inside, i mean..." amu said with another shy look.

"that'd be cool" kukkai said 

they both walked in the door and once they were inside amus mum was there with a cloth  in her hands drying a dish. "amu, whos this?...is he your boyfried or something?" amus mum said, smiling. and right after she said that, before amu could do anything,amus dad came from the living room almost rushing to her. then he panicked "boyfriend! amu has a boyfriend!!!"

A big grin grew on kukkais face and before amu could react and object to all these conclusions

Kukkai threw his arm around amu so tight their cheaks touched. "yep! i am!" he said

"huh!" amu said to loud. amu loosened his grip and their cheeks no longer touched

 "n-n-n-no um- he-"amu tried to say.

kukkai laughed. "c'mon amu show me your room." 

amus dads jaw dropped and just as they were half way up the stair her dad yelled "no! nooooo." he made crying noises and kukkai looked over his shoulder to him then he let go of amu

"its okay m.r hinamori! im a good guy! ill look after her!" he laughed.

"no- he-" amu tryed to say but kukkai's laughter was blocking her out all the way untill they came into her room. then he wipped his eyes from laughing. "ha. your family is funny!" he said laughing again but not as hard.

amu crossed her arms as she stood infront of him "whyd you do that?" she said. he looked at her smiling "c'mon hinamori, it was funny.

i should come here more often...since im your 'boyfriend'" he said as he walked and sat on the end of amus bed. amu turned red. then he laughed at how she was blushing then stopped. "so this is your room. you know, its kinda like you."

amu slowly stopped crossing her arms and sat next to him. "its sorta mixed. like your personality its girlish" 

he grinned "its, whats a word... uh- cute in one way, just like you" amu turned red again

"and its small like you" (amus eyes turned to black lines with a dot as she blinked.) 

he laughed. then amu giggled. "hey amu, wana come after school to the park and practice some soccer with me?" he asked after they stopped laughing. "sure" amu said.

then kukkai got up and went to the opened door and yelled "ok! cool! its a date then!".

and then they heard amus dad making moaning noises and saying "amu has a boyfriend! hes in her r-r-room!" he moaned again.

kukkai laughed. "im so gonna visit again." he said. 

"stop doing that!" amu told him. 

"its funny. plus, dont worry i have to go now, getting dark." he told amu

"c'mon Daichi!" he said called daichi who was trying to play basket ball with one of amus little rubbers. 

kukkai went down the stairs and amu and daichi followed.

"are you leaving so soon?" amus mother asked kukkai

"yeah, i gotta go"

"i was looking forward to you having dinner with us. im sure amu would have liked it since

you too..." amus mum trailed off not daring to say the 'b' word in case amus dad would pretend to cry louder.

"hopefully next time" kukkai said as he grabbed amus hand and gave a sort of cheaky smile

as he looked at her. "see ya hinamori." then amus dad  made noises again. half way out the door

kukkai said over his shoulder, "hey, amu! dont forget about the date tommorow!" then laughed as he began to walk down the street

'kukkai! you little-' amu yelled in her head but then her thoughts were blocked out

from her dads crying and saying "their going on a date! amu has a d-d-d-date!" 

"hope you have fun tommorow,amu" amus mother said, ignoring her husband.

"he's not my stinking boyfriend." she said, annoyed. crossing her arms 

"oh c'mon amu, theirs no need for that. he told us, and besides he lookes very honest and seems to like you alot."

"heh-heh lucky me..." amu said as she went up the stairs muttering complaints about kukkai as she walked in three little charas she noticed were behind her. "EH!?" she said, startled "when did you guys get here!?" 

"kukkai when as he left, we came in." miki said casually

su had her hands together with her eyes closed and she was smiling "we were just intime to hear about you and kukkai" she said

 "and tommorow" ran added

"uh-eh" amu began to say something

then su went right up to amus face and gave puppy dog eyes along with a pout, "something your not telling us, amu-chan?" 

amu sighed. then layed on her bed. then sighed again and muttered "stupid kukkai"

After walking down the steps kukkai put his hands behind his head and laughed  "haha, hinamori is funny. and she blushes alot."

daich hovered above him "ey, kukkai?"

kukkai looked up at daichi  "yeah?"

"that wasnt an act was it?" daichi asked

"what wasnt?" kukkai said still looking at daichi

"the whole boyfriend thing." daichi said in a casual voice

kukkai looked infront of him and sighed. "it had to be"

...there was a pause... "kukkai? did you see her charas as we left?"

kukkai looked up at him "miki,ran and su?"

 "yeah." daichi replied.

"no" kukkai said then he started laughing "if they were there i caused even more trouble for hinamori." he continued,  "daichi. lets go again tomorrow" 

daichi sighed "this is gonna become a daily thing isnt it?" 

kukkai ignored him, "we'll go again tommorow..."
