Chapter 3: Confession In the rain
Once amu got up she raided her closet for something good to wear but couldnt decide on anything, so she turned to
miki. "way ahead of you" miki exclaimed and with a little miki magic amu had a new outfit to wear. She smiled and felt good
inside, "thanks." she said to miki and was lost in thought of the night before how kukkai called and asked to see her the next day.
-FLASH BACK-
The phone rang and Ami answered it, "hewo?"
a voice spoke in the phone then Ami rushed over to amu, "sis, its your boyfwend cawing he said he luv's you" ami told
Amu holding out the phone to her, Amu grabbed it from Ami, "yeah, like that would happen" she muttered so ami
could hear, but she couldnt,because Amu's voice was drained out from laughter over the phone. Once it stopped
Amu put the portable phone near her ear "hi, kukkai" she said and started walking up to her room.
"how'd you know it was me?" he asked. Amu smiled and replied "lets see, firstly was the so called 'boyfriend' or as
ami calls it the 'boyfwend' thing then secondly was the roar of laughter i heard a minute ago, so it could only be you. "
Kukkai laughed a little more then went serious "you got any plans for tommorow?" he asked
"dont think so" amu said as she plonked herself on her bed. "why?"
"wondering if you'd like to go looking around and shopping or whatever girls like" he told her
amu sat up, "whats this for?" she asked, her cheeks turning abit pink
kukkai chuckled "its a date and during the date im gonna proposeto you. hey, you think your dad will like me better then?"
he asked and burst out in more laughter. Amu turned red and got a little frustrated, "would you be serious for once!?"
Kukkai stopped laughing and his voice went softer as if he was pouting or something. "just wondering if you wanted to
hang out thats all...so what do you want to do tommorow?" he asked.
Amu layed back down then closed her eyes and said, "a soccer game and just sitting and talking sounds good."
"sure!" kukkai sounded more enthusiastic now. "meet you at the field at 11. I'll buy you some lunch."
Amu then opened her eyes and smiled. 'this is the kukkai i like. I wish he would switch with the normal kukkai more often' amu thought to herself
"sounds good." she repeated
"cool. Okay, ill see you tommorow, hinamori." kukkai told her.
"see you tommorow." amu said
and they both hung up. Then immediantly ran rushed over to amu and danced around
"amu has a date. D.A.T.E thats what amus got!" ran cheered
"with kukkai" su said in a soft voice.
- FLASH BACK OVER-
amu looked at what she was wearing. A strapped black shirt and underneath
a long sleved pink shirt. She was wearing knee cut shorts that almost looked like jeans but were loose
and more confortable. She was also wearing groovy white sneakers with fluro green stripes across them.
she turned to miki and smiled "thanks again, miki"
miki acted like it was nothing, "yh, whatever"
Amu went down the stairs and saw her parents and ami sitting at the table looking through amis pictures.
"Im off" Amu said with a smile.
"Amuuuu-chan, where are you going?" her dad asked
"oh, honey dont you remember, Amu has a date today." Her mum said, putting her hand on her husbands shoulder
"d-d-d-d" her dad began' to moan
Amu turned red and muttered "its not a date"'
"anyway, have fun amu-chan." her mother said with a smile
"w-w-w-w" her dad started to say but Amu rushed out the door before he could finish.
She closed the door and stood at the front porch for a moment and sighed.
Then she began walking to the soccer field.
When she got to the field she saw Kukkai standing there waiting for her. He waved from the middle of the field and called
her over, "Hinamori! over here!"
Then Amu couldnt help but smile to see him as happy as he looked. His smile and eyes were beaming. He looked a little
ruffled up, like he had been practicing before she got there but before she had reached him he fixed himself up.
"Hey" he said, still smiling
"Hi"
"You didnt bring your charas either huh? lucky I asked daichi to stay home, because we can be alone-" he said
Then they both looked away, smiled and blushed. Then kukkai stopped blushing and looked at her, "Are you up
for some soccer?"
"Well i didnt just come here to stare at the grass did I?" Amu said with a beaming smile.
"Alright. I set up the goals and prepared everything for a one-on-one match. Lucky i got here early and lucky you didnt
bring ran." Kukkai said, kicking the soccer ball to Amus feet.
"You dont think im good enough on my own"
"no. i think youll be better on your own, it comes from the heart and the passion of playing." Kukkai said, hitting his
chest with his hand.
Then before they could get in their positions it started to sprinkle with rain.
Then seconds later the rain came down hard.
"Kukkai, lets find shelter!" Amu yelled to him.
He stood there looking at the ground and because his hair was wet, from a distance it looked like it covered his eyes.
"Kukkai!" Amu yelled.
But he ignored her and stood there.
She ran over to him and reached out to him, "Kukkai we should-"
"It never works" he said still looking at the ground with his head low.
"what?"
"Everything i try, nothing works. I planned what i was going to say- during the match"
"why would you need to say anything during the match?" amu asked
"its to do as you said. to be myself so that you'll..." he trailed off
"what are you talking ab-" then amu froze, because she realised what he meant
"I was going to tell you everything. I might seem all outgoing but if im saying something like that to you..." he trailed off
"Kukkai" she whispered, standing there feeling sad and sorry for him.
Then he started to pretend to laugh, but it wasnt at all convincing "Its pathetic right? forget it, it dosent matter." he said then looked up, but when he looked
in Amus eyes he changed his mind. "Actually it does" his face went serious, "for a long time ive stumbled on my words but, not anymore...
...Amu I love you and i need to know if you would like to go out with me." Kukkai confessed as he stared deep into Amu's eyes and gently put her hand in his.
Amu turned red then gave him a big smile and whispered "of course"
Kukkai's serious face turned into that huge beaming smile, again. The very beaming smile that Amu loved.
They walked out of the rain and sat in the sports shed which had no door but the sides were covered, so they watched the rain cover the field as it already did.
As soon as they both sat down in the shed, Kukkai pulled his jacket out of his bag and put it over Amus shoulders and all she could do was blush and smile.
Then Kukkai put his arm around her and pulled her close to him, Amu rested her head angled on his chest. They sat there wishing the rain wouldnt stop.
