Chapter 19: A Missing Person
"I went back to my house, the one that burnt down. I wanted to see what was left, but instead I found something else. The stairs and walls were all damaged but I managed to get up to the second floor, I started looking around and there were these chemicals on the walls, ones that spread fire. They seemed like they were only just put there. Long story short, everything led to my room. I found out that, without knowing it...." Kukkai paused and swallowed hard,
"I was the one that started that fire" He said, full of regret.
"I'm responsible for the house burning down and Kaidou's death-" Kukkai continued
"I doubt it" Ikuto interrupted
Kukkai didnt respond he just sat there, thinking.
"Well, thanks for everything. See ya" Kukkai said getting up
"already leaving? aren't you a bit weak to go out there again?" Ikuto said
"Thanks, but I'll be fine" Kukkai said as he shut the door behind him
Ikuto sighed, "Idiot"
Ikuto decided not to go after him, despite as it seemed, he believed in Kukkai more than that. However, maybe this time he should have.
Ikuto didn't know when it began but he started to trust and believe in Kukkai, however Ikuto always knew he wasn't a bad guy after all, just a kid that needed to learn from his mistakes.
It had become morning and Kukkai was once again, aimlessly wandering the streets, thinking about his brother, the mistakes he has made and everything else.
Amu woke up to the sound of her phone recieving a text, she flipped it open, trying to get used to the light, it read;
'Amu, it's Rento again, if you see Kukkai please tell us. He is still missing'
"what?" Amu thought, "Why didn't he go home last night, he and Ikuto should have..."
She dialed Ikuto's number and waited for him to pick up,
"Hey, it's a little early don't think? Anyway, whats up?" He said
"Ikuto, is Kukkai there? If not, why didn't he go home last night? Their worried about him and-" she said without taking a breath.
"He's not here" Ikuto interrupted
Amu got up, "What?"
"He left a little while after you did" Ikuto explained
"Why? Where'd he go?"
"I dunno" he replied
Amu began to get frustrated, "Ikuto! His family is worried about him, everyones looking for him, he's not well..."
"He has his reasons, Amu." Ikuto said with a calm voice
"maybe so...but" Amu said, getting confused and worried
"I know you're worried, but its one of those times where you just want and need to be alone. Yeah, he may be reckless of having that time out on the streets being as he is, but it'll be okay" Ikuto reassured her, but in truth, he wasnt even sure himself.
"Maybe so, but I've got a bad feeling..." Amu trailed off
"What you mean?"
"It's nothing, dont worry. Sorry for calling you this early and thanks. Bye" Amu said and hung up the phone.
Amu got changed and did her chores around the house. As she brushed her hair she looked down at the bathroom sink,
"...Something really doesn't feel right..." Amu whispered. She gripped onto her chest, "This feeling..in my heart..." She looked over at Ran, Miki and Su "Lets go for a walk"
They walked around window shopping,
"Huh!? This feeling is a...!" Ran said, suddenly
"What is it?" Amu asked
"an X egg is near desu" Su said
"it feels really strong, Amu-chan." Miki told her
"please, lead me to it" Amu said
The three led Amu inside a building were she went up many stairs,
"Up there, are you sure?" Amu asked looking up to the door at the top
"Yes. It's very strong" Ran said
Amu paused at the door "this feeling again..." She hesitated, pausing at the door, gripping her chest.
"Amu?" Ran said, concerned
"Quickly, Amu-chan!" Miki said
Amu pressed her teeth together, "something beyond this door...is so..." she trailed off. Amu turned the knob and opened the door and saw an open area and there was Kukkai standing on that rooftop.
Amu looked at him with wide eyes "Kukkai, what are you doing here?...it can't be..."
Then his X egg hovered next to him, his heart had an X on it.
"Kukkai..."
